Farewell to Valentino

Here's a link to watch Valentino's LAST Ready to Wear Spring 2008 Collection. One thing I love about Valentino is that he really understands a women's body. He knows what looks good! How many times have you watched the Red Carpet action at the Oscars and hear the words, " I am wearing Valentino".

Enjoy his brilliance!!

YSL: One of the greats has passed

Yves St. Laurent has passed away in Paris this week. He was one of the great French fashion designer and he was only 71 years of old. At 21 he was appointed designer of Christian Dior after Dior sudden passing. After be called to serve his native country of Algeria, he came back to find out he was replaced by another designer. With the right connections he was able to start his own couture house and that was the beginning of the famous YSL logo.

In memory of him, I decided to show you some of his 2001 Spring Couture collection.

Christian Dior Resort 2009

Christian Dior kicked off Resort season with colour, print and volume. I found his collection very feminine and sexy in a demure way. He didn't too much skin, it was just enough. You can tell that he was designing for a strong, confident woman. One thing I absolutely love about John Galliano, who designs for Christian Dior, is that he has brought back the "GLAMOROUS LIFE". In his collection he has brought back the time when woman used to make a strong effort to look good. To gets up in the morning, have their hair perfectly curled and pinned, a red pout and lots of jewels just to walk into the kitchen. I think of all those woman from the 1950s films. They really expressed glamour in those eras.

Here's a few of his looks that I just fell for......

Designer Feature.......WILL.i.AM

I.Am clothing aims to fill the gap created in an industry where mass production consumes each person's need for individuality," says will.i.am

My designer feature for the month is Will.i.am. Will.i.am from the Black Eyed Peas was a former L.A.'s Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising student. In 2001, he began designing his own signature clothing line, i.am, which made its debut in 2005. Last year he collabed with Blue Holdings to design a premium denim line, i.am Antik.

He spent over four years in between touring, music videos and producing working on his clothing line. His collection consists of " blazers, waistcoats, skirts, pants and scarves, all incorporating the funk of will.i.am's music". He works diligently on his line with his business partner Lor-e Phillips whom is the stylist for Black Eyed Peas. Their current collection will be exclusively at Hard Rock Hotel Boutiques across the country.

They have also created a uniform line for the staff at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino. They have 27 different uniforms for casino staff, cocktail waitresses, who are wearing bustiers and miniskirts and card dealers decked out in shirts with a Hard Rock tattoo print.

I love celebrity designers who really are designing for the love of it and not the just the dollar.
Way to go, Will.i.am, you're one talented guy!

Let me know how you feel about celebrity designers, nah or yay?!

Peace,
